Maria became a Certified Birth Doula (CBI) as a response to a deep interest in childbirth which began with the birth of her first child, over twenty-two years ago. It was then that she realized what a powerful and transforming event childbirth is. Maria believes childbirth should be celebrated, not feared. It is a great joy for Maria to provide encouragement and support so that couples can make informed choices about what they experience in childbirth. Maria loves to walk alongside women during this beautiful time, with confidence in the innate strength and ability that each woman has. In addition to being a Birth Doula, Maria is also a Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and a Hypnobabies Certified Hypno-Doula. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Political Science and has always taken an interest in women's issues. In addition to her birth work, Maria is a wife, mom, educator, gardener, henna artist and aspiring potter.
